The Skiff: Poems
The first and only published book of verse by Leonid Ivanovich Strakhovsky (1898–1963), issued under the pen name Leonid Chatsky — one of his two books printed by Gutnov in 1922 (the other is the prose collection Lord Henry’s Fantasies). Strakhovsky later became a historian and Slavist in North America; in his Berlin years he was secretary of the literary circle the Brotherhood of the Round Table, alongside Vladimir Nabokov and Gleb Struve. The cover carries the imprint line “Publishing House of E. A. Gutnov. 1922”. Publisher: E. A. Gutnov (Gutnoff). Series: none, per the Russian State Library record (the livelib.ru catalogue assigns it to the Spolokhi Library — an unresolved discrepancy).
