Evgenia Vladimirovna Gutnova

The wife of Elbrus Gutnov (née Zederbaum; 1914, St Petersburg–1992, Moscow) was a Soviet medieval historian, a specialist in English history and in the social and political history of medieval Western Europe. She graduated from the Faculty of History at Moscow State University in 1939 as a member of the first cohort admitted in 1934. She became a Doctor of Historical Sciences in 1957 and a professor at Moscow State University in 1959; from 1971 she was a researcher at the Institute of World History of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

She was the author of the memoir What I Lived Through, in which she recounted her meeting and marriage with Elbrus Gutnov and preserved a wealth of information about the fate of the Gutnov brothers.
